What is an Annotated Bibliography?

An annotated bibliography is a listing of citations, along with a brief summary and critical overview of each source.

An annotated bibliography answers these questions: 

  Is it a reliable or current source?

  Is there any bias?  

  Credibility of author or publisher?

What is the correct format for an annotated bibliography?

1. Provide the citation (source).

2.  Write a brief summary of the article   

  • Include key points that support the thesis statement 

 3. Give a critical overview of the source. 

    • State if this source was a scholarly source
    • Provide examples of why it is a valuable source for others
