Quick Guide to Tutoring Services at Florida State College at Jacksonville

Welcome to the North Campus tutoring services page.  This page provides a copy of the current tutoring schedule, as well as a description of the academic backgrounds of our tutors and the subject areas in which they can provide tutorial assistance.  All tutoring lab spaces are available during the full range of the facility's operating hours.  If you have questions or concerns related to tutoring resources and services, please feel free to contact the Director of Tutoring Services or the LLC Manager.  We look forward to having the opportunity to serve you!

 

GENERAL HOURS OF OPERATION

Monday-Thursday:  7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. / Friday: 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. / Saturday:  7:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

The computer lab is accessible during the full range of the facility's operating hours. All computers in the lab are loaded with the Microsoft Office Suite.  Some computers are loaded with specialty software for the Funeral Services and Respiratory Therapy programs.  Plug-in DVD players are available for checkout at the Library Services desk for computer users who are at terminals that do not have a DVD drive. There are tutoring staff members available to assist with basic computer navigation and Microsoft Office programs.  Pay-for-print copiers and printers are available.  Copies are 10 cents per page.  To copy or print, you must have cash loaded on your student ID card.  You must load a minimum of $5.00 on your card. You may add money to your card using a debit or credit card by clicking on the Essential Bucks link inside the myFSCJ student portal, or you may visit the Campus Business Affairs Office is you wish to load your card using cash.  

Math tutoring is available on a walk-in basis.  Below is a list of the math and science tutors and the topics for which they can provide assistance.

The North Campus Learning Commons provides writing assistance for all discipline areas and levels.  Writing tutoring is provided on a walk-in basis, as well as by appointment.  If you wish to guarantee a specific time slot for your session, we recommend that you schedule an appointment. If you are a walk-in, you will be added to an available appointment slot.  To schedule an appointment in advance, please click on the Schedule Appointment button located below.  

North Campus has a Foreign Language Lab where students may receive tutoring or work independently on language coursework in the general lab space.  The tutoring lab is currently located in D-300EThe lab is available during the full range of the LLC's operating hours.  Remember to swipe in at a sign-in station any time that you visit the lab so that you get credit for your tutoring/lab time. Headphones with attached microphones are available in the lab. The North Campus Foreign Language Lab currently offers tutoring in Spanish.  

The North Campus LLC has a dedicated Science Study Lab that contains microscopes and slides, anatomical models, and handouts that would prove useful to students enrolled in Natural Sciences and Health Sciences courses.  The health sciences tutors work inside the Science Lab. Students may access the lab during the full operating hours of the facility. If a tutor is not present in the lab, please see a staff member at the Library Services desk to gain access to the lab.

The North Campus LLC has a dedicated Science Study Lab that contains microscopes and slides, anatomical models, and handouts that would prove useful to students enrolled in Natural Sciences and Health Sciences courses.  The health sciences tutors work inside the Science Lab.  The science tutors work in the Circle of Learning open lab area.  Students may access the lab during the full operating hours of the facility. If a tutor is not present in the lab, please see a staff member at the Library Services desk to gain access to the lab.

For specialized help with Chemistry and Physics, you may make an appointment.
