This page outlines several potential areas of shared collection development. The basis of these collections lie in the potential to economically and efficiently address common information needs across Florida's higher education institutions. Resources that meet the needs of students and faculty in programs or initiatives common to multiple institutions are excellent candidates for inclusion. The sample list of ideas below is only the beginning and certainly not a comprehensive list of what the collection can/should hold. Institutions can add whatever they feel will be used, and in what quantity...adding multiple copies of high circulation materials is encouraged.

Baker and Taylor offers several different publisher license models. For the Florida SHARES project, we recommend (though not required) to purchase a "multi user" or "single user" license that offers the license in perpetuity. (see the image below). By owning the license in perpetuity, users will have access for a long period of time without the concern of monitoring a certain number of limited circulations (eg: 24 circulations), or by a certain limited number of months or years. Those limits are primarily designed for public library use.
Health Sciences books may benefit from a single user (5year) license as health accrediting bodies often prefer students only have access to current medical information not older than 5 year. The 5 year license (highlighted) will help automatically "weed" health sciences ebooks after 5 years and save time and effort on the part of collection evaluators.
