This course provides an introduction to the works and life of Shakespeare by studying representative plays and poetry within their historical, cultural, and artistic contexts. Emphasis is placed on close reading while developing an awareness of various scholarly and artistic responses to Shakespeare over time. This course includes reading, speaking, and writing competencies. This guide may also be helpful in other English, Literature, and Theatre courses.
