The selection of library materials is a collaborative process. Any student, faculty, or staff member may recommend materials be added to the collection. Final selection of material is made on the basis of reviews, recommendations, listings of notable books, and subject bibliographies. Librarians also use both qualitative (faculty response) and quantitative (size, age, potential use, and cost) information in the selection process. Cooperative sharing of resources is considered in selection and retention of materials. The LLC does not purchase textbooks for the library collection.
