Lowering the cost of education for students is a priority
Vision 2025 will support the development and distribution of high-quality, next-generation textbooks, open access learning units and open educational resources and courses that will help alleviate the escalating cost of higher education. By 2025, the MCLS will provide collections of next-generation textbooks that will be capable of covering 20% of undergraduate (high enrollment) courses. These collections alone will save students enough funds to cover the expense of the complete program.
Create no-cost textbooks for students
Beginning with the highest enrolled courses across the state, license/purchase, and publish no-cost, next generation textbooks. Multiple variations of textbooks will be made available to help ensure academic freedom in the selection of textbooks by faculty.
