The Health Navigator Associate in Science (A.S.) provides students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to become a proficient health navigator professional. Rigorous coursework aligns challenging academic standards with relevant technical knowledge and skills. Hands-on learning contributes to knowledge, reasoning and problem solving to prepare students for a successful future in helping patients navigate their experiences in the health care setting.
Health Navigators are specially trained to assist individuals with limited health literacy, as well as the elderly, with accessing benefits from community services, clinical care and health insurance. They may also facilitate appointments and follow-up care for patients who are ill and facing complicated treatment plans for a range of health problems. They may also assist with identifying and enrolling patients in various health insurance plans including ACA Exchanges, Medicaid, Medicare and disability services. - FSCJ
