Technology

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge to the change and manipulation of the human environment.

The term technology is a combination of the Greek techne (’art’, or ‘craft’) with logos (’word’, ‘speech’) meaning a discourse on the arts, both fine and applied. In other words, it means the application of scientific knowledge to the change and manipulation of the human environment.[1] Technology, therefore, refers to the know-how - techniques - which are combined into a process to be executed. The term includes hardware technologies (e.g. computers, the internet), software technologies (e.g. a web browser), and ‘human-ware’ (for example the tacit knowledge of the execution of a process, e.g. the skills displayed by a top chef).
