FSCJ Library & Tutoring Services Annual Review 2022-2023

Tutoring Services Overview

Florida State College at Jacksonville offers free tutoring to all currently enrolled students. The Library and Learning Commons employs professional academic tutors and peer tutors. Many of FSCJ's tutors have hybrid work schedules and provide campus-based tutoring and online tutoring using the Tutor Match platform in the Brainfuse online tutoring system.

In addition to the services provided by FSCJ's tutors, students may access professional tutoring services provided by Brainfuse's tutors. Brainfuse's tutors offer synchronous and asynchronous tutoring options, and students may access a variety of academic tools in the Brainfuse system for independent study. The availability of Brainfuse online tutoring expands access to academic assistance because students may receive online tutoring services during times that are outside the scope of the LLC’s physical facility hours or when FSCJ's tutors are not staffing the online platform. Brainfuse’s professional tutors also facilitate expanded subject coverage, providing tutorial support in some subject areas that are not covered by FSCJ’s tutors.
