Our faculty librarians (both full time and adjunct) monitor our online LibChat service and provide online reference assistance through chat, SMS messaging, and email. Librarians also create and manage a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) database that students, staff and faculty can access 24/7. Our FAQ page is heavily used by our patrons and allows us to answer ready-reference and policy questions efficiently.
The READ scale is a measurement tool used by libraries to assess the effectiveness of their collections in supporting their users. The acronym READ stands for four main components: Relevance, Exhaustivity, Accessibility, and Depth. A Level One on the READ scale is a simple, ready-reference question, whereas a Level Six on the scale would be the most complex and often requires multiple days and follow-up meetings.
