LIS 101: Introduction to College Research
LIS 1001 is a three-credit course that provides students with concepts and skills to conduct research according to the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL): Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Students apply critical thinking skills to identify the capabilities and constraints of information published through social media, websites, popular media, and academic media; describe the value of information in various contexts; design, refine, and execute a search strategy; formulate a research question; and engage in academic communication. The course was developed and is taught by FSCJ faculty librarians.
