FSCJ LLC Annual Review 2021-2022

Data reports and statistics from the FSCJ Library and Learning Commons for the Academic Year 2021-22.

At the time of publication, the FSCJ Libraries held a total of 142,109 physical items. Our librarians regularly assess their collections as a part of regular collection management. The LLC’s holdings are managed by each campus LLC’s Library Services team in collaboration with the Library Technical Services Coordinator. The physical collection is reviewed monthly for missing and lost items, and regular shelf-reading ensures items are in order. Inventory of our collection is conducted before program accreditation reviews and annually at each campus and center. This process is essential to collection management, as it identifies items for replacement, retention or deselection (weeding). The selection of materials is a collaborative process and reflects equity, inclusion, and diversity. Please see the Collection Development Policy at our LLC Policies Libguide

Circulation by Academic Year

This chart shows year-over-year trends in physical item circulation, with AY 2021 (July 2020 - June 2021) being the most heavily affected by COVID. Campuses have generally returned to about 50% of their pre-COVID physical item circulation numbers. Contributing factors could be that the number of students taking online classes remains high, and students have become more comfortable using electronic sources. Additionally, a greater percentage of the collections budget is now being spent on electronic materials to meet student and faculty demand for online items.
