A training guide for FSCJ Library and Tutoring Services staff for how to use Alma and Primo

Introduction to Circulation/Fulfillment

Fulfillment is the process by which we loan items to students, faculty, and staff. The training materials covered in this section will cover the basics of checking items in and out, renewing them, changing the due dates, and navigating the patron's account.

In general, we can renew books for patrons as long as no one else has requested to borrow them. Library and Tutoring Services managers will need to approve renewing equipment items such as laptops, hotspots, or calculators.

After items have been overdue for 30 days, they will go in a "lost" status in Alma and a charge will incur based on the replacement price of the item or the default price of the material type if there is not a replacement cost in the item record. If the patron returns the item in good condition, the charges will be removed. We are not able to renew items that are in lost status. The patron will need to return them in order to borrow them again.

Your Alma permissions may restrict you from overriding renewing overdue materials. You would need to contact your manager to ask Madeline to increase your permissions.

You can download a combined PDF guide of all training materials in this Circulation/Fulfillment section. You can also view additional Fulfillment training materials on FLVC's website.
