1. Enter the item’s barcode number in the Physical Items search bar.
2. In the Results screen, click on Edit Item.
3. Click in the Process type drop-down menu and choose Damaged. This will also assign a default Damaged Default Department that you will leave as is. Once set, click on Save at the top-right of the screen.
4. Please note: do not scan the item in as that will generate a transit status. Changing the process type will suffice. Only use this for items that appear to be salvageable – items that are hopelessly damaged need to be withdrawn.
If a patron replaces a damaged item such as a charger or a book, we can override the barcode number on the new item from the original damaged item record – this saves time and retains the checkout history of the item.
